David E. Poeltl, M.D., Ph.D. is a board certified, comprehensive ophthalmologist who specializes in cataract surgery including multifocal and toric lens implants. He is originally from Connecticut and has practiced ophthalmology in Naples since 1992.

Dr. Poeltl earned a B.S. in Chemistry and subsequently a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from Princeton University in 1984. He completed his M.D. at Rutgers Medical School where he was selected for the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He did his ophthalmology residency training at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute.

He has been listed consecutively in “Best Doctors in America” from 1996-2008. He has served as an Associate Examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a member of the Collier County Medical Society and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

In his free time, he enjoys sailing, traveling, wood-working, wine-making, skiing, and spending time with his wife and two college-aged children.



Paul M. Rougraff, M.D. is originally from Indianapolis, Indiana. He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He provides comprehensive medical and surgical eye care, including cataract surgery, glaucoma surgery, and eyelid problems.

Dr. Rougraff received his undergraduate as well as his medical degrees from Indiana University. He was awarded Phi Beta Kappa Honors in 1986 and Alpha Omega Alpha Honors in 1990. He completed his residency at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute and worked as a Clinical Instructor there before moving to Naples in 1996.

Dr. Rougraff has authored numerous publications as well as scientific presentations. He is on staff at Naples Community Hospital and North Collier Hospital and is a member of the Collier County Medical Society, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.

His interests include wood-working, camping, skiing, photography, and spending time with his wife and four children.




Lynn K. Byerly, M.D. joined Naples Eye Physicians in 2008. Previously, she was in private practice in Peoria, Illinois and worked as a Clinical Instructor at the University of Illinois. She is board certification by the American Board of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Byerly’s expertise includes cataract surgery, glaucoma surgery, LASIK, and eyelid problems and surgery including the use of BOTOX for functional and cosmetic purposes. She enjoys adult and pediatric patients.

Dr. Byerly has a Bachelors of Science from Northwestern University. She earned her Medical Degree at Rush Medical College and completed her ophthalmology residency at the University of Chicago. She is a member of the Collier County Medical Society and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

She enjoys yoga, tennis, jogging and spending time with her husband and two young daughters.
